SeeU (시유, シユ)

History

A demo called I-Fantasy produced by Bang Shi Hyuk (a.k.a. Hitman Bang) was originally released introducing her to

the Vocaloid fandom during the Vocaloid3 announcement. On August 30, 2011, her name and appearance were revealed. There will be a limited edition version of her software as a starter pack.

Preorders for SeeU took place on the 14th of October and a community called "CreCrew" is being opened for her. She will be released on the 21st with a Vocaloid 3 starter option or without. She also has a limited edition with just her voicebank and a book. SBS mentioned they are keeping the prices down on SeeU. Overseas buyers will have to purchase through eBay. A third demo "Shining Star" was also released.SeeU's release date was announced on SeeU's official site as well as on the SBS Artech_vocaloid twitter page. She will be released on the 21st of October.

Demo Songs

Usage for Music

SeeU has both a Japanese and a Korean voicebank, allowing her to switch between the languages where needed. Her voice is light-hearted. She, however, is not one of the Vocaloids who have been announced that will have the Vocaloid 3 software packs with them.

Japanese

Her Japanese is unknown right now. Here are the earliest forms of using her voicebank to produce Japanese.

Korean

SeeU is able to pronounce any sound that can be written in modern hangul. Unlike previous English and Japanese Vocaloids, coding of SeeU's voicebank is only partially based on X-SAMPA, this is due to the fact that the Korean alphabet, hangul, already functions as a phonetical alphabet. Due to it being impossible to code with hangul font, her consonants are based on romanized hangul and her vowels are based on X-SAMPA. Reception of her Korean voicebank from fans have been widely mixed. Many comment that it is difficul

t to understand her vocals as they lack clarity and her pronunciation of words occasionally sounds awkward to native Koreans. Some comments regarding her pronunciation are that her ㄹ(r) sounds are too trilled and that she also sounds particularly "Japanese-like." Prior to her release fans had difficulty in predicting her overall tone. This was due to differences all 3 demos prior to her release date had prevented precise analysis of her vocals as each demo had different approaches and techniques on manipulating her voice.

PIKO WALLPAPER

PIKO TRIVIA

  • Utatane Piko's hairstyle is almost identical to the real Piko's hairstyle, the only difference being an ahoge on top of the head that is shaped like the letter "P". The white hair color is likely inspired by depicted artworks of the singer. [4]
  • His design incorporates the guitar.
  • He is the only officially designed Vocaloid with heterochromia; one of his eyes is blue while the other is green.
  • SF-A2 miki's voice provider, Miki Furukawa, works for Ki/oon records who are owned by Sony and is the same group Utatane Piko's provider Piko comes from.

Utatane Piko (歌手音ピコ)

Utatane Piko''' (歌手音ピコ) is the first Vocaloid from Sony Music Distribution and uses the [[Vocaloid2]] engine. His name "Utatane" means "sound of singer" while "Piko" is the name of a popular Nico Nico Douga singer called [[Piko]]; in other words, his name means "sound of singer Piko". He was released on December 8, 2010.

USAGE FOR MUSIC

In its default state, he is the least masculine sounding male vocal sampled by a male that was released. He cannot produce a satisfactory low masculine vocal tone as a result of it.[3] He is a praised as a versitile Vocaloid capable of a multitude of vocal tones and results. He can easily fit in a varity of roles within music because of it.

Demo

The trial version was released, but unlike past trial versions was released to be usable only for 5 days. The VSQ files

cannot be saved and the only savable format is .wav. Tutorials were also uploaded on how to use the software. The trial version has synchronization difficulties and uploading VSQ files of other vocaloids will not match up as perfectly as one expects, on some notes Piko sings too fast while on others too slow. This makes his demo difficult to use as not only is a certain amount of editing unavoidable, but his VSQ files once edited cannot be saved; although there are also ways around this. Piko's trial is subject to pronunciation problems, producing slightly muffled results without tweaking on some notes, this puts his overall sample quality on the same level as Lily's trial version. Sony also limits the uploading of the trial version, thus one cannot use him in the same way as his full version.

Utatane Piko's trial has caused a stir amongst Vocaloid fans.

  • Some complained 5 days was not enough for the Producers to create songs with.
  • Some put the blame of the limited trial on previous hacked trials of Lily and Iroha (note; that in a technical sense 5 days would create no difference to the ability to hack the software). However, even if one turns off the 5 day limit Piko does not have VSQ file saving and therefore cannot function as a full Vocaloid like the Lily and Iroha trials can.
  • Others reacted negatively towards Sony for their harsh restrictions on Piko's trial, particularly the removal of videos on Nico Nico Douga featuring his trial voice.

In the Japanese fandom, he is currently amongst the lesser used Vocaloids, although has overall seen more usage then the previous male released in 2010 Gachapoid. Part of his usage problem is owed to be released next to the release of the Kagamine Append, with the Kagamine's grabbing much of the attention from him. He has a strong fan following for his "shota" voice in western fandoms, but due to the backlash of his demo failed to impressed many of the Vocaloid users, giving many mixed and contrasting reactions towards him overall.

There have been complaints to his voice sounding muffled and unclear. The design was considered "lazy" as it was close to SF-A2 miki's design, leading to the popular pairing of Utatane Piko and SF-A2 miki in both Japanese and Western fandoms.

IROHA WALLPAPER

source: KONOCHAN.COM, GOOGLE IMAGE

IROHA TRIVIA

  • The speakers encasing her hands are called Dynamic-Phonon Buster. The other set of speakers are called Chorus-speaker, each of these move around, supporting her. The floating microphone collects her voice and Announce Booth, which is on her head, works as an amplifier and divides the sound into three classes for the speakers, according to its range; the sound for tweeters, mid-range speakers and woofers.[16]
  • According to her official profile on the Hello Kitty to Issho! page, she is interested in Hello Kitty and wants to become a "Platinum Kitty"[17].
  • Since the trial version had enough vocal capabilities to function as a normal Vocaloid, hackers were reported to have found out how to turned off the limit of 30 days for both Lily and Iroha's 30 day trial versions.
  • Due to miscommunication regarding advertisement of the new collaboration happening at the same Comiket booth as another event, fans initially believed that the new Vocaloid, announced to be a collaboration between AH-software and Sanrio, would be the kittyler Rio which was illustrated by KEI, the illustrator for the Crypton Future Media CV series and the Vocaloid Lily. (It is to be noted that at the time, a "kittyler" was misunderstood to be a moe personification of Hello Kitty herself rather than someone who is simply interested in the character) This sparked a controversy, and an interview with one of the members of AH-software had to clear up the misunderstanding. Rio was used for an upcoming project by Sanrio, "Hello Kitty to Issho!" and she is one of several kittylers illustrated by multiple artists. KEI was just one of them.[18][19]
  • Two MMD Models of Iroha were released from Windows 100% magazine, one in August and another in November. The first model was based upon her Kittyler attire the other is her Vocaloid attire. The creator of the models is ISAO . Her second model (Vocaloid style) was used for an official 3D movie has shown on her official page and broadcast on Youtube.[20][21] In May 2011, two more models of Iroha were released, both done by the same artist, only this model was released to the public for a limited time. The models are Iroha in a more casual (dubbed idol) appearance; the first model that was released had a large bun wrap, but after much feedback ISAO edited the same model to have a side ponytail. In July 2011 a Magician model was released from Windows 100%.
